Art in a theme park?
A love of art is firmly anchored in the DNA of the MACK Group: art is more than just decoration - it should move us, inspire us, and encourage us to pause for thought, opening up new perspectives. Sculptures, exhibitions and installations provide moments of tranquillity and discovery amidst the experience.
It is present in many places, from large exhibitions to a suite designed by Stefan Strumbel, not to mention the paintings and sculptures adorning hotels, bars, restaurants and paths. A variety of artists are represented, including Marc Chagall, James Rizzi and fresco painter Roberto Radici. Together, they lend the Europa-Park Resort an unmistakable artistic splendour.
Art broadens our horizons. It enables us to see and think differently. Art opens up new perspectives, creates meaning and inspires.

Sculpture avenue on the 'Alte Elz'
Initiated by Roland Mack, the ‘Sculpture Avenue’ is a publicly accessible art project located on the 'Alte Elz' river, opposite the themed 4* superior hotel ‘Bell Rock’. Created in collaboration with the renowned Würth Collection and featuring works by the Mack family, this impressive open-air exhibition showcases the work of international artists and is constantly expanding. This extraordinary project brings together nature and culture in a unique way, inviting visitors to pause, explore and find inspiration - offering everyone the opportunity to experience art.

Europa – Garten der Sterne
To celebrate Europa-Park's 50th anniversary, renowned conceptual artist Ottmar Hörl created a striking installation featuring 100 golden stars. This impressive installation in the historic Balthasar Castle Park is called 'Europe - Garden of Stars'. Hörl is one of Europe's best-known conceptual artists and has previously designed several art installations for Europa-Park. In 2021, he attracted considerable attention with his work 'Stand up, Europe' at the same location. Through his art, he symbolises unity, solidarity and European identity, inspiring visitors.

Collaboration with Roberto Radici
Hailing from Brescia, Italian portraitist and fresco painter Roberto Radici is one of the most sought-after masters of his craft. He has been making his mark on the Europa-Park Resort's hotels for years with his impressive murals. His works in the themed hotels 'Colosseo' and 'Santa Isabel' convey the atmosphere of historical eras and delight visitors and art lovers alike. His most spectacular works at Europa-Park include the paintings in the Baden Salon at Balthasar Castle, as well as the lifelike grisaille portraits of American and German heads of state at the themed hotel 'Bell Rock'. Radici's art at the Europa-Park Resort leaves a lasting impression.

Art exhibitions at Europa-Park
Visitors to Europa-Park can regularly enjoy impressive art exhibitions. The works of renowned artists such as Marc Chagall, Otto Waalkes, Rolf Knie, Tomi Ungerer, Janosch, Peter Gaymann and Claudia Thoma have already been exhibited here. The blue fire Dome features constantly changing exhibitions that provide fresh inspiration. Paintings, drawings and photographs breathe life into the park and enrich it with inspiring cultural diversity.

Stefan Strumbel Suite
The 35-metre-high lighthouse of the 4* superior themed hotel ‘Bell Rock’ houses six individually designed tower suites. One of these is the 38-square-metre ‘Ahoi Heimat’ luxury room, which can accommodate two adults and two children. It was designed by Stefan Strumbel. Born in Offenburg, the internationally renowned artist has known Europa-Park since childhood. In this suite, he reinterprets the concept of home, combining pop and street art with the symbolism of travel, wanderlust and return. Mirrors, a heart-shaped bed and nautical elements encourage guests to contemplate the concept of home. Strumbel, who is known for his provocative art and hotel suites, thus creates encounters between art, space and visitors.

Traditional craft
Many Europa-Park visitors will be familiar with the Russian woodcarvers, who have been showcasing their traditional craft in the Russian themed area since 1992. Their work has been shaping the park for decades, whether it's the large cross in the Norwegian stave church, the ornate carvings in the Valais village or on the Swiss Bob Run track. Their most impressive piece is a faithful replica of the historic Böcklin Cross from the Freiburg Cathedral, which is now on display in front of the chapel at the themed hotel 'Santa Isabel'. The woodcarvers hail from Vladimir, a city with a long tradition of woodcarving, located around 190 kilometres east of Moscow. Visitors to the Russian themed area can also watch potters and icon painters at work, getting up close and personal with genuine craftsmanship.

The musical dimension
Music plays a key role at the Europa-Park Resort, guiding, connecting and moving you. The journey into another world begins the moment you step out of your car in the car park. Composer Hendrik Schwarzer and producer Thomas Mack have created numerous musical works that give the Europa-Park Resort its unique sound. The Europa-Park Suite, which has been specially composed, accompanies guests as they make their way through the themed areas, while the soundscapes of Rulantica awaken a sense of adventure and magic with their orchestral melodies. The musicals also set musical standards: 'Spook Me!' tells a touching story about courage, being different and friendship, while 'Rulantica - The Musical' transports you to the legendary world of Rulantica with its captivating melodies. Whether on the big stage or as subtle background music, music brings experiences to life.
Architecture as a cultural narrative

Ulrich Damrau's legacy
With an analytical eye and a deep respect for regional and architectural characteristics, he spent over 25 years creating country-specific scenes at Europa-Park which feel both familiar and unique.
These worlds boast an authentic look thanks to original decorative elements and historic buildings such as the 15th-century Black Forest Vogtshaus and the 14th-century Balthasar Castle, as well as handcrafted details. Cultural heritage is thus transformed into a sensory experience.
