Europa-Park is building a children's house for ‘little heroes’
As a central charity project for Europa-Park's 50th anniversary, a children's house for 'little heroes' is being built in a new building and guesthouse complex in Silver Lake City. With the children's house, the Mack family wants to create a place where families can regain strength and a sense of normality after their child has suffered a serious illness. The children's house is being built with the support of ‘RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e. V.’ and other donors. DJ BoBo will be the patron of the project. The children's house, with five large apartments for a family of four, will be built next to the planned new building and guesthouse complex in Silver Lake City. Completion is scheduled for summer 2026.
We want to create a permanent facility for families who carry a heavy burden. Our aim is to continue to support the healing process with a zest for life.
Solidarity and a new zest for life – the mission of the children's house
The stay at the 'Europa-Park Children's House Kleine Helden' is completely free of charge for the children and their families and lasts five days. From the many attractions and offers at Europa-Park to Rulantica water world, excursions to the Taubergießen nature reserve or the cities of Freiburg and Strasbourg, the region offers countless opportunities to rediscover the joy of life.
The families are looked after on a voluntary basis by retired Europa-Park employees who have received special training and are familiar with the different types of illnesses, how children react to them and what needs to be taken into account when caring for them. It is also supported by the German Childhood Cancer Foundation in Bonn.
A project that touches hearts
Roland Mack, owner of Europa-Park, explains: “For the 50th anniversary of Europa-Park, we decided to create a permanent facility for families in difficult situations, in addition to the many important social initiatives. The target group are children with cancer who are slowly returning to normal life after their serious illness. A week-long stay at Europa-Park and Rulantica water world together with their families is designed to help them rediscover their zest for life and find their way back to normality. It is precisely this feeling of family cohesion that is so important after the strain of cancer. Not only the sick child, but also his or her siblings and parents have to bear a heavy burden.”
The new children's house was presented as one of the selected charity projects during the big RTL telethon with Wolfram Kons on 21. and 22. November 2024. Miriam Mack, ambassador of the 'Europa-Park Children's House Kleine Helden', represented the Mack family on RTL's donation hotline.
