An epic universe that brings stories to life
Mighty gods, brave sea people and ancient secrets - the Rulantica saga is more than just a myth. Inspired by Norse mythology, it links Rulantica water world to the themed hotel 'Krønasår' and beyond, through books, attractions, shows and digital experiences. The saga has been developed specifically for the water world to provide guests with a deep, compelling story that accompanies them through different levels of experience.
Michael Mack, Managing Partner of Europa-Park, had the vision to create a unique world of stories beyond the classic theme park experience. Over the years, MACK Magic has developed a fictional universe full of adventures that can be experienced across multiple channels - whether in the water world, the theme park, in books or digital media.
With the Rulantica saga, we are not just telling stories, we are teaching values - with a touch of magic.
From the idea to the MACK Magic brand experience
When Rulantica opened in 2019, it wasn't just a water park, but a new world of storytelling that goes beyond classic attractions. It's not just about entertainment - the saga reflects core values: Friendship, family, courage and conservation are the themes that run through all the stories. Whether in the Rulantica novels, digital experiences or at Europa-Park, the sea people stories invite guests to immerse themselves in this world.
The development of the saga was a decisive strategic step for the MACK Group: It makes it possible to create immersive experiences that extend beyond the water world. The result is a long-term, constantly evolving universe that accompanies guests in various formats.
The story of Rulantica - a myth full of mystery
The Rulantica saga is set on a mythical island in the Northern Sea, where a source of immortality once existed. But humans abused its power, and Odin, father of the gods, turned them into mermen. For centuries, Rulantica has been guarded by the mystical sea serpent, Svalgur, to prevent outsiders from discovering the island's secrets.
At the Rulantica water world, our guests can now immerse themselves in the mystical Norse world of Rulantica, exploring the detailed themed settings and meeting the inhabitants of Rulantica. Among them is Snorri, the lively Sixtopus. The Rulantica saga is part of the 'Adventure Club of Europe' meta-story.
The Rulantica saga is an integral part of various experiences at the Europa-Park Resort. These stories have been told in numerous formats, from interactive experiences in the water world and Europa-Park to the Rulantica novels by Michaela Hanauer. The Rulantica novels are about the mermaid Aquina, her human twin brother Mats and the clever Sixtopus Snorri. Together they explore the magical island, confront the gods and unravel ancient secrets.
